Many artists know that our inner depths provide the material for creative
expression, but much of what we have in our psyches may be laying
dormant, due to years of suppression and repression.
So how can we access these inner-riches?
Let me take you on a journey, and show you how.
Art therapy was a big part of my healing journey. When I was painting I was nowhere else but in the present moment. It was in the sweep of a paintbrush or my soiled hands that I found home within my body for the first time in a long time.
What initially began as an outlet in my healing journey soon became an essential ingredient in my life- a passion and integrated part of my recovered self. Painting is about the process, not the end product. It all starts with holding space for myself to go within and find out what my soul is yearning to express through me.
Soon I moved away from the paint brush and started using my whole body to express what needed to leave my body. Creativity and self-expression inspires soul-deep healing from the inside-out. Creativity taps into the part of ourselves that questions our worth, gifts and talents. Creativity grants permission to play and be child-like. Creativity is the essential elixir for exploring our inner-landscape. What comes through is all okay.
"Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakens." – Carl Jung.
